Expression in the Arts

One-Week Program (2nd-12th grade)

This one-week program focuses on the creative side of performance arts. Our mission is to teach young artists the invaluable skill of self-expression. The program is split into three distinct facets; expression, mentoring, and presentation.

Students will have time allotted each day to learn fun creative exercises that will help them find inspiration. The second aspect of the class will be lessons with professional mentors that have mastered specific arts such as expression through movement, songwriting, and visual art. The third part of the program is based on refining their artistic ideas into a final presentation.

Ages: 2nd - 12th grade (2019-2020 school year)
Dates:
 August 26th - August 30th

Shakespeare Workshop - One Week Program (2nd - 8th Grade)

This half-day program is an introduction into the world of performing Shakespeare, designed to accommodate creative young actors. For three hours a day, students will be introduced to Shakespeare's fantastical plays through acting exercises, scene study, and rehearsal.

They will be introduced to the formal language of the Shakespearean dialect, cast in leading roles, and directed to perform an abridged version of a Shakespeare play.

The week will culminate in an abridged final performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Dates: August 19th - August 23rd (Final Performance on 8/23)
Grades: 2nd - 8th grade (coming out of 2018-2019 school year)
Times: 8am-11am
Price: $130

This is a program for studious young actors who are equally as interested in studying theatrical text as they are in performing. Since Shakespeare is very challenging, students will be asked to take on a lot of personal responsibility during the program week. Please be certain that your student is the right fit for this program before enrolling. If you have any questions about the program's content, please email us: riversidetheatrearts@gmail.com
